The problems of fining Polish drivers for traffic offences reappears as one of the topics of public debate in Poland. The current solutions involve financial punishment and penalty points that cannot exceed annual limit of twenty four points. However, such reprimands do not prevent the unruly drives from breaking the traffic regulations. That.s why the new project of highway code has appeared that includes the idea of retaking the theory test by the drivers who considerably exceed the speed limits. The authors of this new project explain that the fear of penal responsibility that would require the necessity of retaking the driving free theory test may stop the drivers from speeding as it would cause additional inconveniences connected with the examination. If the law is passed the unruly drivers will have to report to the police office and there, after paying the fine, take the driving theory test. Only those who pass without any mistake will regain the driving licence. The drivers ask what they think about the new project express various opinions, some say that it can bring very good results while some disapprove of the idea. Whether we agree with the idea or not, we have to admit that some new regulation concerning the traffic offences are necessary.
